I unplugged everything and that made it work.
Network Cable

Firewire400 (1)
Firewire800 (1)
I didn't think to unplug them one at a time to control for where the problem was. Oh well. If your drives comes out and snaps back in right away without updating the firmware. Remove all devices before rebooting.
My drive came out, and stayed out the entire time the bar was progressing, then it went back in and the maching restarted.
EDIT: I have Keyboard and Mouse ONLY hooked up to the computer.

Version 2.5 of the widget i have running here, i think i'll send it out in about two and a half year, does just that. It only 'speaks' every three hours though, when the stats are updated.;) I think the 2.5 years have passed, so it's time for another update!

You could get a beta key by pre-ordering the game at Game Stop. Although at this point I would confirm before doing it since the Beta won't be lasting too much longer. When I log in it says something about it expiring June 21st. So maybe they aren't giving keys anymore. If you did it in-store it printed on your receipt. Online they were supposed to e-mail it to you within a day.From what I understand they stopped giving out keys on the 17th of May.

Set your phone & computer's time zone to Arizona time, and sync again. Does that help?

Friday is usually the miscellaneous sessions day, when the less important (or popular I might say) sessions are held. Of course you can leave whenever you want but Friday is still a full day. I would plan on staying the entire day if you can. Leaving Saturday morning is best as you can relax on Friday :)
Last year, in the original schedule, all sessions on Friday ended before lunch and lunch was the last item on the schedule. During the week, they added a couple of repeat sessions in the first slot after lunch. But, still, all sessions were over by 3PM.
I don't expect Apple to post the full schedule 'till a couple weeks before the conference. (I agree it would be nice if they posted it sooner.)

Just to clarify...do I need to reinstall XP now after the EFI update or should the speed be correct now?
I have a feeling a reinstall is necessary and that is fine, I'm just at work now and was wondering what to expect when I get home tonight.

Sounds a bit redundent given my Samsung TV, Sony Bluray, Humax PVR, XBox 360, Windows PC and my macs (with Twonky installed) already all play nicely together without needing a new standard.

I think the iPhone 4's screen is too small and has not increased in size physically since the original iphone launch almost 4 years ago. It's time for a screen size increase, either equivalent to or slightly smaller than HTC's 4.3" behemoth. Apple should go S-Amoled with IPS or OLED which requires no backlight and therefore extends battery life.

Definitely my favorite thus far, amongst many excellent interpretations of the challenge theme. The neon glow of the keyboard backlight really makes this pop, and I like the angled composition.

This one I'm not too sure how it communicates the challenge theme (assuredly more my lack of insight and interpretation than the photo) but more distracting to me is the overexposure of the foreground flower. Was this exposed with the in-camera meter? I find a lot of over-exposure problems when using the camera meter, so I usually use an incident meter, or a spot-meter - or else I bracket with a specific intention of some low-value captures. I find that recovering slightly under-exposed images easier in digital than I do hot or over-exposed images. Just my limited experience - your mileage may vary.
OK, my own submission for this challenge. With the utmost apologies to JD, I had to stick with the apples & oranges theme which is what had immediately occurred to me when we set this topic. I've tried to expand on the conceptual interpretation of apples & oranges with some more technical interpretations - a split b & w background, and an over-saturated and high contrast post treatment.

I vote for a iPhone shuffle you clip to your chest. When you receive a call, you just tap it to answer and it goes on speaker. When you want to make a copy, you tap it and with voice commands you can call someone from your call list. I saw a prototype used on a famous TV sci-fi series and it seemed to work really well.
Another idea is the tricorder iPhone series that is 7 inches and you can cram additional capabilities and include a strap to place around your shoulder. It could be light enough to hold with one hand and have the other hand free for a weapon.

EF-s lenses produce smaller image circles. So they are lighter (and cheaper) than a comparable EF lens would be. That's it.
Note the focal length is always the focal length. A 50mm lens still has a 50mm focal length on a 1.6 crop camera. It has a different effective field of view, but that's not the same thing.
Also note this has been going on forever: a 50mm lens on a medium format camera (obviously with a bigger image circle) as a different field of view that it does on a "full frame" camera.
EF-S 10-22mm is the same focal lens as a EF 16-24L lens, why produce a lens EF-S, when on a crop camera you could just add a EF 16-24mm L lens (other than cost).

If you use the 16-24mm lens on a crop camera it will not have the same effective field of view as the 10-22.
