Employer can withdraw/revoke/notify USCUS he is no longer sponsor for that particular employee for the position, similar to H1B. You better check with good immigration attorney.
That is true, however, would that result in the 140 being cancelled? As per several discussions the 140 can still be used for extensions (assuming that the 140 has not been revoked/cancelled by USCIS due to fraud and that the PD is not current for that catagory). My infopass IO told me so. My wife's namecheck got cleared last October. However, it was waiting for mine and it cleared the hurdle July 08. So yes, it matters even if one year has passed since I applied for 485.

You can file until Aug 16 .However from July 30 , you have to pay new feess..Better apply before July 30 and contribute to IV
After July 30th, you have to pay the higher fee, but you will get free AP/EADs for the entire duration until adjudication.
So, it's up to you (and whoever is paying for ur EADs).. you can decide appropriately.

No reason to deny your 7th year H1 extension based on the fact that it is for a different role. It DOESNT have to be "same or similar" for this case.
But the "same or similar" comes into picture for your 485 approval. Well........ at that time ... if the original LC position is still available for you permanently, no issues.
What happens to the GC petition? I guess that is probably also Amit's concern in the long term

Last week, I submitted my documents to my lawyer but until now I haven't received any confirmation from my employer yet if my application has been filed already. We are not allowed to contact our lawyer directly so I'm just relying on my employer about this. I'm quite concerned coz there's no way for me to find out if they have filed it or not.

No forms would work because like a typical family owned blood sucker company, their PF is controlled by another TATA company and not the central govt. AND to get your hard earned money out of that another company, you need a clearance letter signed by some TCS HR personnel ..
You could see if the amount is worth going through the agony of talking to all BS..ing top brass in the company.. If it is, then make your heart of steel and go through it..
they would keep some money as their tip.. (maybe 20%) but give the remaining back to you..

No need to worry if your employer is consulting company. If so, then in reply to USICS mention that you are employed by employer, but works/worked on different client sites for them which are in different states.
Keep all your previous LCA ready or better attach copies of all with your reply. Not a big deal.

I sent the following:
1) Confirmation Receipt of application
2) Copy of I 485 receipt
3) Front and back copy of current EAD card
4) A copy of the cut out that the current EAD came in
I don't think you need anything else. If you look at it theoretically I-94 and passport, drivers license has nothing to do with an EAD card approval or denial.

This is my first post so please bear with me. I have been silent in these forums for some time now. My intention in this post is not to offer any advice etc but its only intended of what I am feeling after the Feb visa bulletin and whether there are other people sharing the same feeling. I have been in this process since 2001. Got screwed by company once (after about two years) and had to change company so started all over again. Luckily new company was good. Though they dont pay for any GC expense lawyer was good and got PD 2004. Last year after seeing VBs had hopes of getting out of this soon. But now Feb VB bulletin has provideed really depressing news. At this stage its very depressing. I am thinking my "living the american dream" will be a dream only. With upcoming elections who knows what will happen. IV seems to be the only hope now.
Dispatched letters today to IV California and President.

I had filed an FOIA for a copy of my COMPLETE ALIEN file. I found my I-140 approval as part of those documents.
It might not be a bad idea to file FOIA again to request the entire Alien file and not just the I-485 file. That is likely to give you the results you're looking for.
I can see Approval stamp and date on my I-140 application. I just dont see I-140 approval notice(like the I-140 receipt they sent out). If I want to use AC-21 or use porting to EB-2 is my I140 application with approval stamp is good enough ??
