Alum Pot

Alum pot grade 3 with a length of 522m and a depth of 104m with a dive to 129m.
The first direct decent was back in 1870 by Boyd Dawkins and party, the system was extended in 1978 and again in 1990 by CDG (Cave Diving Group).

There are two routes into the main shaft of Alum or you can do Diccan and end at the sump where Diccan and Alum meet or go through the Lower Long churn and drop the dolly tubs pitch or via the high traverse above this pitch.. Alum pot can easily be found in Selside as the huge gash is 11m wide by 37m long with a stream flowing over the SW edge (unless in flood where it's a raging brown monster !).

Before you go onto the land for this pot, payment of £1 per person must be paid at Selside Farm just below the parking area on the opposit side of the road.

Mixed pictures from several trips into Alum Pot.
