Flower Wrapped Favors DIY

Another gem from Martha. How does she do it over and over again with complete style and grace?!?

Directions for assembly:
  1. Fill a 3 5/8-inch-high acetate cylinder with candy.
  2. To make flower, cut a 9 x 30” piece of tissue paper. Fold, accordion style, in 5” wide layers. Cut petals in smaller end; unfold and lay on flat surface.
  3. Place cylinder on paper with bottom about 1” from uncut end, and roll; tape sides and bottom with double-sided tape. Tie ribbon above top of cylinder.
  4. Gently peel petals down to open flower. If you use a shorter cylinder, reduce height of paper; for a multicolored blossom, wrap a second layer of paper around cylinder after first is secure; secure with ribbon.

Welcome To (insert your destination here)

Many brides want to do a fun and unique welcome basket for their out of town guests. Often, we tell them to include things that have something to do with the surrounding area and also gives guest information on places and things to see in the area. Erin from 100 layer cake shared this adorable idea for mapping out important places on the subway guide for NYC. This is such a great idea and something one can do for any place, no matter where they are getting married.

Another cute idea would be to hand draw (or do it on a computer) a map of your area making sure to high light fun and exciting places for your guests to venture to.

I have been out of commission for the past few days as I have been traveling with one of my favorite brides (and best friend) to her hometown in Washington where she will be marrying the man of her dreams in July. We were VERY busy while we were there and so there was not much time to post. I am happy to say though that I think we got a lot of things accomplished and her big day will definitely be one to remember. The thing that Quinn adores is tulips and so while looking at Martha Stewart Weddings, I saw this adorable idea for favors. Thought I would share!!!

Create a boundless field of tulips with these sweet favors. We placed bulbs (you can buy them online in the fall) in votive candleholders with enough water to cover the roots, then added paper blooms and a vellum seat assignment to each one.

Download our templates, and print onto card stock; then cut out with scissors to create patterns.
For each tulip, lightly trace petals onto pink cover stock or heavy paper (you will need two different shapes for each flower: Petal A with a bottom slit, and Petal B with a top slit). Cut out with scissors, and cut the slits as marked. Interlock the two shapes, sliding the bottom slit from one into the top slit of the other. Cut an 18-inch length of 16-gauge green cloth-wrapped floral wire for a stem. Apply glue to one end of the wire, then secure to the bottom of the petals; let some glue seep between the two petals. Hold briefly for glue to set slightly, then let dry.

Trace a leaf onto green vellum, and cut out with sharp scissors (use long, smooth strokes). Write a guest name and table number on the leaf. Use double-sided tape to attach the leaf to the stem near the bottom, and fold the base of the leaf around the floral wire. Slip the stem into the leaves of the potted tulip bulb, and push just the tip of it into the bulb to anchor it.
