About The The 14th Annual Friends of Friends Photography Auction

In his opening speech, Friends Without A Border Founder, Kenro Izu, told the Auction audience: “I asked the Dalai Lama what is the key to Peace? He said, ‘Think We, not Me or I’”.

The 14th Annual Friends of Friends Photography Auction began last Tuesday night with a cocktail reception, followed by the annual Live Auction. The audience was a broad mix of private collector’s, Gallery owners and director’s, curators and first timers. Jean-Baptiste Gustave Le Gray (August 30, 1820 – July 30, 1884) has been called "the most important French photographer of the nineteenth century because of his technical innovations in the still new medium of photography, his role as the teacher of other noted photographers, and the extraordinary imagination he brought to picture making." He made his first daguerreotypes in 1847. Opening a lavish studio in 1855, Le Gray became the official photographer of Napoleon III.
