There is a chance that i might get laid off. I have a pending I485 filed on July 2. My I-140 was approved in June 06. Would like to know if i get laid off within how many days do i have to find a job.

Why did you use AP if you had a valid H1-b?
Because I did not have H1 Visa...just H1 document. I went on a very short trip to India and I didn't want to make trips to Chennai consulate and who knows if I got stuck with some kind of verifications...or other delays...Thats why I opted for AP.

^I didn't even know if it was relevant when i remembered the "SDL", i just remember my bro talking about it once. But that was a very long time ago.

It sometimes take longer than few days. During my years of getting AP's every year there are times I had my AP in hand within 3 days to almost 20 days. I am confident you will get your AP document much before the end of the month. Good luck with your travel plans.

Joey, I like the last one with 2 suggestions. 1) As Josh suggested, get rid of the birds and retake it when the shadows are a bit less imposing. 2) Stage a foreground object. The path is too bland, and needs an anchor or point of interest. It doesn't have to be large. A park bench, a log beside the path, a small shrub near the path, for example, maybe even a blanket with a picnic basket on it. Not sure it would blend in, but maybe even a (subdued) hopscotch layout in chalk on the path. That would establish your "near". I like the "far" in this shot. At first, far appears to be straight down the path. But then you realize that far actually bends behind those smal trees to the left of the path, and the furtherst point ends up between those and the large single tree. I found my eyes taking a nice journey in those directions. Just a few thoughts.

I agree that we need to add a poll on how many are already waiting for adjudication in I-485. This will give a better understanding of visa dates will move going forward. I am sure state dept doesn't expect people applying in June to get their GC anytime before 2008.

ask your lawyer or find out exactly what they screwed up.

- is your lawyer a company lawyer or your lawyer
- what is the status of your company--- big/small/ many h1b/ what about others in your company on LC applications..etc
- did the comapny do ads? do you have the material or copy of everything that was sent?
- is your company making profits. how many employees?
- eb2 or eb3
- has anyone been rejected before in your company?
- how much time do you have on h1b

I do not think usa consulate can track spouse unless otherwise specified/applied for H4. Since you both have individual work permits. You will appearing like an individual. So, there will be no questions regarding spouse status.
Regarding your H1b deniel laster year. I have not heard of such cases. But one thing. USA consulate can ask for more evidence regarding the job offer in USA. They may even say that your job offer do not seem valid.

The office staff from our congressman tried their best and said they couldn't get it approved. However, my wife received the EAD with an approval date just the same day of previous expiry. It has been processed within 30 days. Either USCIS processed quickly or the request from congressman office at least brought our application to the top. Anyways, we are relieved. Good luck to you all.

all of them basically say "copy and paste this, ill tell you what it is later" and then not go indepth on all of the code.
i think ill look at that IMHO stuff :S
^Don't lie to him. Spyrl your going to need to remove your current DX9 card or DX10 card and put in a DX7 when your testing. lol i wasnt thinking at the time and only reliesed what i said later. (lol silly me)

If possible, try to get hospital record of live birth. Though it is not birth certificate, it may be used as secondary evidence.
I am thinking to get the AFFEDEVITS of my wife from her FATHER and MOTHER stating the inforation of my her BIRTH.
My wife was born in XYZ city but now her parents reside in ABC city. My question is will it be OK if her parents get the AFFEDEVIT from ABC city stating that she was born on XXX in XYZ city or does the AFFEDEVIT has to be made from XYZ city only.
I just thought of this and wasnt sure if its ok or not. Can any one please clarrify?

for cases that has to be filed by overnight courier that is by the USPS Express Mail the center will only pick up mails from the U.S Postal Service once a day and in the morning. Therefore any mail that is not picked up in the morning will be picked only the following day and is given a next day receipt date.

Just got back from Canada. It was really straightforward.
Showed passport and GC at Canadian checkpost... No questions asked about canadian immigration.
On the way back showed green cards, again no questions....
Wow... after almost 10 years on H1, it is unbelievable how uneventful travel on GC can be :D

Unless you are sitting on a pile of cash, this is really a no brainer....

(1) Give it to me, i will invest it for you..;-)
(2) Depends upon your familial situation and resources you have, both here and in your home country.
(3) If you plan to go back to India ( i am guessing yo are Indian..)
This really is a personal choice that you have to make, with your spouse. By posting such question on open public forums, you have just opened the floodgates to getting made fun of and ridiculed...believe me, it is very tempting...

My wife's H1 is valid until 2009. We have to travel to Canada very soon and she will return on AP (EAD approved). Can she continue on H1 for the sponsoring company as it is or any amendment/filing has to be done to regain the H1 status. I dont want her to switch to EAD (just in case things go wrong down the lane)
