2nd Take on New York

Well maybe it was because we looked at photography for 7 hours today and went to probably about ten galleries, but I was having real difficulty finding good images even though I trekked all the way from Houston up to 57th St.
Continuing my investigation of religion in New York City is the following image.

The next image I took down in Chelsea. I wasn't impressed much by the image at the time but looking at it on my computer screen I really like the color divisions and overall feel of the photo. Around the area were a number of fall out shelter signs, something I found interesting since most people, I think, don't see them very often anymore.

I love some of the things my new 11-16mm lens can do!

I liked the multiple layers within this next image. Obviously the primary concept is animal and the wild contrasted with city and confinement. The reflection from the puddle is a slightly more interesting way to view Times Square. Added to this is the fact that the reflection in the puddle is Mufasa (or possibly Simba) and that the Lion King is a quintessential piece of cultural currency for my generation. However, here the lion is encaged in the puddle in the most urban environment (Time Square) and, added to that, there appears to be bars of a sort in front of him as if he is actually in a cage.

Our first gallery stop this morning was Bonni Benrubi Gallery who treated us very nicely. As a photographer I couldn't help but love these flowers, take a close look at them :-)
