Franck Ribéry "Jewel of French Football"

Tonight I'm continuing my soccer player series by posting a caricatured manipulation of Franck Ribéry. Franck was born 7 April 1983 and is a French football player who currently plays for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich. Ribéry primarily plays as a winger, preferably on the left side, and is known for "pace, energy, skill and precise passing." I had a pretty good source pic for this one so I was able to post it at my normal full scale which is 1280 pixels wide. He was good practice and a lot of fun. If you want to learn more about Ribéry, his name is a link to his Wikipedia page. I'll have something a little different tomorrow.

Hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Day 22

The night was quiet. The country of windmills, cheese, and tulips, is a real pleasure to visit.
I wish the balloon got pushed more towards the sea, since I know the coast is really beautiful... Maybe the winds will hear me and take me there?

Martin Palermo ~ Scream in the Rain

This is a very quick, loose caricature study and experimental piece of Martin Palermo. I had a little fun tonight and carried this caricature in a little different direction than was intended. The image I started with was very rough so I decided to keep it loose and play around. I'm sure he's a little skinnier than some of you would like but it just seemed appropriate. The image below is what I started with. I actually wasn't going to do a soccer player tonight. I did a caricature of Leslie Nielsen earlier to honor his passing with the intentions of posting it tonight but I ended up entering it into a contest, so I won't post it here until the contest is over.

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

hallucinating tresaury

On this new day, I saw nature in the middle of Amsterdam, mushrooms running across the street, full of beautiful colors.
This morning, love was wandering alonside the streets, nature was playing with cobblestones, you can find this wonderful treasure here

Recovery Monday!

Shashi Naidoo - South African Indian actress, TV presenter, model.

To Whom It May Concern,

Dear Elara, black angel (Kate), hanks for your support on my previous post.

So, the wedding was awesome! Boy, do Indian people know how to party! The festivities had already been going on for two weeks by the time we arrived and were made super debauched by a certain fellow named Raj. (Close friend of the groom and his family) It seems Raji and his crew (the other men in the family) never go anywhere without, at least, a six pack of beer and a bottle of Irish and they're ever so generous, Bless 'em! I went to work with a delightful hangover this morning! Thanks boys!

The venue was beautifully decorated, draped in white cotton, red and gold chiffon and a mass of golden fairy lights. Indian couples get married on a stage, as opposed to at the alter, seated on the love seat, in front of their friends and family. This is what it looked like just before they arrived. The white chairs to either side are for the grooms parents and the best man and maid of honour and the red bench on the right is for the brides parents.

The bride looked so beautiful in her wedding sari and she's impossibly tiny! Needless to say I felt like a whale. My friend, Avi looked super handsome in his kurta, so grown up! They make such a lovely couple. Despite the rain, it was rather hot, so I decided to ditch my two-tones for a pair of black, satin kitty heels. The wedding party were decked out in the most beautiful saris I've ever seen! The colours were amazing and the bead work on the saris was out of this world! Please note that the links are examples of traditional dress and not people I know.

I won't lie, I committed serious carbacide at the wedding reception! The dinner was totally vegetarian, Gujarati (Western cuisine) and super yummy! Even though I only had a side plate full, I should have known better. I just can't eat chili bites, chapatis (rotis), yellow dal and fragrant Basmati rice! Trying to fit in can be hazardous to your health. Needless to say, I'm on heavy restrictions this week!

Please don't feel obliged to comment on this post. I realise that it is one of my more boring ones, but I just needed to take stock of the weekend's events.

Hope you are all well and having a great start to your week.

Sincerely,
Cinnamon Brown.

Rio Ferdinand

Rio Gavin Ferdinand (born 7 November 1978) is an English footballer. He plays at center back for Manchester United in the Premier League and in 2010, became captain of the England national football team. He has amassed 78 caps for England in total, and has been a member of three FIFA World Cup squads. I imagine you football fans know much more about him than that. It was a snippet from Wikipedia. His name is a link to his Wikipedia page if you want to learn more about him.
Tonight's project was a full body caricature of Rio Ferdinand. I seldom do a full body caricature like this. Normally when I do a caricature manipulation, I use a completely different body. I thought this image was cool with the rain, so I decided to keep it in tact and manipulate the whole picture. It created a couple of challenges but was a lot of fun. I'm providing the original image below for comparison.

I've had requests to do a caricature of Diego Maradona but I can't seem to find a good image. Help!
Hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

A De-motivational Poster "False Hope"

This was an entry at FreakingNew.com for a contest called "Thanks for nothing". The object was to Create de-motivational poster satirically thanking somebody and to make it mimic the classic motivational posters with a black background, image in the middle, followed by the title word(s), and de-motivational message below. This contest allowed using material from a previous manipulation, which was an exception. Mine was a de-motivational poster called False Hope. It took gold.

Tomorrow, more soccer. I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for dropping by and have a great day!

Ronaldo de Assis Moreira ~ Ronaldinho

Well, I promised you soccer players and tonight I'm posting two caricatures I've done of what I'm told are famous soccer players. Above is Ronaldo de Assis Moreira or Ronaldinho, born 21 March 1980 in Porto Alegre, commonly known as Ronaldinho or Ronaldinho Gaúcho. A Brazilian footballer who plays for Italian Serie A club A.C. Milan and the Brazilian national team. I don't know a thing about him accept when I google his name, there were some really cruel caricatures of him with over exaggerating his lips and famous teeth. I tried to be a little nicer to him.

Carles Puyol i Saforcada ~ Carles Puyol

Below we have Carles Puyol i Saforcada or Carles Puyol, born 13 April 1978. A Spanish footballer who plays for FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Puyol was a very quick study but I spent a little more time on Ronaldinho. I do know one thing; these guys are incredible athletes and pretty good caricature material. I got a very positive responce from yesterday's post of Pele so I think I'll be doing a few of these soccer players or "footballers". I hope the little information I provided about these atheletes is correct. If not or if you want to know more about them, their names are links to their Wikipedia pages.

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Dodge Hill Deep Shelter

There are 3 Air Raid Shelters in Stockport, Chestergate, Brinksway  and Dodge Hill.

Dodge Hill was the smallest shelter which could accommodate 2000 People at anyone time it was built in the years of  1938/9 with the use of  pneumatic drills as the red sand stone was very easy to work, there are pockets of clay within the shelter which is still soft, most of the shelter is dry and in very good condition.

All the entrances are blocked apart from one small hole and once inside you find your self in a roomy passage, after a short while you come across a flight of stairs leading to the main entrance which is bricked up with air bricks above letting in a little day light.

There are many passages full of original beds (triple bunk beds) and 2 main toilet areas, once there was a Warden's post a tool store and a first aid store in here too. Electricity was put in for lighting and wooden benches for seating, several cut out storage areas can still be seen in the walls by the beds. Some of the small side passages which house 12 beds have stone floors in place and some of the small passages have a few toilets in, all of the toilets I saw were chemical toilets although it is said that some were plumbed in.

As the threat of bombing receded in 1943 the decision came that the tunnels were no longer needed to be opened every night and by the end of the war they were closed and blocked  leaving them virtually intact to this date apart from kids getting in and up turning some of the beds and leaving rubbish inside the tunnels.
